Cartonnage, fr. 2 has a red, blue and black geometrical design on the back. The letters are a large and clear UNCial from the second or third century BCE. The ink is smudged at places. The papyrus is in good condition--slightly darkened at places, but few holes. Fr.1: left margin intact, front, 4 lines and a trace of ink for a fifth, written along the fibres, the first line seems to be the beginning of the letter; back, no writing; fr. 2: no margins, but the lines are complete, 6 of the 7 full lines written along the fibres can be read. The letter is addressed to Nikan(or? dros?), asks whether he? knows (γεινώσκ[ l. γιγνώσκ[) something and mentions the strategos.
